A new perspective: rediscovering the Niobrara Formation in Colorado's North Park Basin. Developing new hypotheses regarding pressure, petrophysics, maturity, and resource in-place, as well as new engineering methods for developing an over-pressured resource play
Brian Berwick, Senior Vice President of Geology and Jason Schmidt, Senior Vice President of Operations
Fulcrum Energy Capital Funds
Abstract:
The North Park Basin has a long production history but has been plagued by significant operational challenges and highly inconsistent results in recent horizontal drilling. Join us for a critical re-evaluation of this complex play. Brian will unveil a new perspective on the Niobrara Formation, sharing innovative methods in petrophysics, pressure analysis, and resource assessment that have clarified the erratic historical outcomes. Jason will detail the enhanced operational practices that have brought consistent drilling and completion success since 2023. This collaborative approach has transformed the basin, clarifying its reputation and highlighting its promising large-scale development potential
